Laila El-Haddad at Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

  • Raw Materials 148 Cowper Street Footscray, VIC, 3011 Australia (map)

Acclaimed Palestinian chef, Laila El-Haddad, is in Australia 5-16 April 2017 hosted by the Australian Jewish Democratic Society (AJDS), and will be visiting Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Keep up with her tour appearances here on the AJDS webpage >>

International chef Laila El-Haddad will demonstrate a unique recipe exploring the exquisite flavours of Gaza, while taking us on a journey through a region which may be geographically tiny but is home to culinary traditions as rich as the resilience and culture of the Gazan people.

Positioned between southern Arabia and the Mediterranean on an ancient spice route, Gazan cooking is distinct from other cuisines in the Levant.

Laila’s intimate knowledge of the region and its culinary history was acquired through her enduring research and compilation of oral recipes from Gazan chefs and kitchens.
