“We are with humanity...We are against the oppression of anybody. We are against occupation.” - Bassem Tamimi
Join Friends of Palestine WA to welcome Bassem Tamimi to speak at the Uniting Church Hall in the city, 6.30pm Thursday 6th April. Please note the hall is next door to the church.
Described by an EU delegation to the UN as a “human rights defender” and as a “prisoner of conscience” by Amnesty International, Tamimi and his family are leaders in the non-violent popular protest movement in Palestine. The weekly demonstrations in their West Bank village of Nabi Saleh have seen brutal repression and Tamimi himself arrested nine times, while the bordering settlement has expanded to seize 60% of the village lands. This is a rare opportunity to hear him speak about the movement in Palestine today, and the role of international solidarity and BDS.
Tickets $15 waged / $10 concession
