Protest for Palestine: 70 Years of Nakba

Canberra, ACT

Rally in Canberra for Free Palestine - opposing the 70 years of Nakba and apartheid. Protest in Garema Place at 1pm, 19th May.

In 1948, the establishment of the Israeli state in Palestine through violent ethnic cleansing not only forced Palestinians from their homes, but also led to massacres of indigenous populations and the destruction of villages. May 15th commemorates the beginning of this catastrophe. This racist violence has continued, as Palestinians protesting in Gaza for Land Day were shot down by the IDF.

The Australian government has been complicit to this from 1948 to 2018 - defending Israel's ethnic cleansing of Palestine at every opportunity. They are supported in this effort by the mainstream media in Australia. We must stand up against this!

Join us to commemorate 70 years since the Nakba (catastrophe) and to protest against the ongoing occupation of Palestine, on the weekend after - Saturday 19th May, 1pm, Garema Place. Please bring your loudest voices, signs, flags, and banners! We want as many people as possible in Canberra to see our protest and hear what's happening.

List of speakers/endorsements TBA.
