In 1948, the state of Israel was created by expelling three quarters of the Palestinian people from their villages and homes. more than 700,000 Palestinians from their homes and destroying more than 500 Palestinian villages. Since 1948, the Palestinians have experienced waves of expulsions and violence and experience extreme restrictions on freedom of movement for Palestinians in the West Bank and Palestinians in Gaza being in the equivalent of an open air prison with the Israeli military controlling what people or goods can enter or leave Gaza."
