Mahmoud Darwish: Life and legacy

A night of music, reflection, conversations, open mic, and poetry

Melbourne, VIC

"I come from there. I render the sky unto her mother
When the sky weeps for her mother.
And I weep to make myself known
To a returning cloud."
- Mahmoud Darwish

10 years after his death, Mahmoud Darwish remains a strong voice for the Palestinians and Arabs. A powerful and award-winning Palestinian poet, his life and his words resonate and reverberate through the Arab world and beyond.

With support from the Darebin City Council, the Averroes Centre of Arab Culture is proud to present a celebration of Mahmoud Darwish's life and legacy. Join us in a truly memorable night of music, reflection, conversations, open mic, and of course poetry.
