The Wanted 18: Palestine Intifada anniversary film screening

It is 1988, and the first Intifada has just begun. Palestinian leaders are calling on their communities to develop locally-produced alternatives to the Israeli goods they use every day.

A group of Palestinian activists in Beit Sahour, a suburb of Bethlehem, decide to create a cooperative dairy farm. They purchase 18 cows from an Israeli kibbutz and transport them to the West Bank.

So, now what?

These are pacifist intellectuals and professionals. They know nothing about raising cattle or operating a dairy.

After some trial and error, and training in the U.S., these newly-minted ‘lactivists’ start producing a high-quality product, and the population comes to depend on the 'intifada milk'.

But this act of defiance doesn’t go unnoticed! The dairy is raided, the cows photographed and declared ‘a threat to the national security of the State of Israel’.

Will ‘The Wanted 18’ live to milk another day?
